GOOD MORNING! HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!
Ha ha, guess what everyone, I transferred. Again. To Hakodate. I have finally left the 愛するOdori Zone and on to bigger and greener things! Moiwa was the best, but God needs me somewhere else. This is now my fourth area.
Well this week was transfers. Took a 6 hour bus to Hakodate because it’s the most southern part of Hokkaido. I love Hakodate. It is a beach city and it feels like I’m back In Hawaii. Salty smells and onigiris. I’m a happy person. And everything is SO GREEN. And my companion is WOMACK SHIMAI! It’s a party.
So some miracles that happened this week:
-Met a Chinese girl who speaks English while streeting. She’s met missionaries before. It was so cool.
-Made a baptismal date with the cutest mom. She cried as we showed her a “because of Him” video. The power of the atonement is real. I’ve seen it. I’ve felt it. And now she has too.
-Helped resolve some concerns with another investigator and will have a baptismal date made this coming week
-Danced with these grandma sisters and saw their faces light up. One of them has Parkinson’s Disease. So it was cool to see how God is aware of these grandmas. Giving them small tender mercies to make life so sweet.
-Our investigator came to church for all 3 hours of church
-It was Hakodate’s ward Conference so I got to see some members from Kotoni and Moiwa Ward because they are in stake callings!! It’s a special feeling to see the people from an area you served in. It’s a humbling feeling.
Quote of the week:
“Happiness here and now consists in freely, lovingly, joyfully acknowledging God’s will for us–and doing it in all ways and all affairs big and small.”
I’m grateful for this mission! The people of Japan! God loves us all so Personally!
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES! They really made my day yesterday. This was truly one heck of an awesome week.
For starters this week the missionaries were fed 4 days in a row by members!! (Which is not common in Japan) and I have such bad rice cheeks right now it’s a little (a lot) ridiculous. But when you see the pictures just know that’s all the love I’m getting from Moiwa! (Which you can say is quite a lot)
Fun fact, all our addresses for our investigators have been erased from our Area Book so it kind of been nuts because we don’t know where these people live now. BUT! Through the spirit we have been guided to so many people’s houses which has been a blessing and tender mercy.
Yesterday was my birthday in Japan and so many amazing things happened. Our investigator came to church, our less active came to church and stayed all 3 hours! And at the end of church a cute young gal came in and told us she had interest in joining our church. Seriously miracles after miracles. All in between members gave me birthday presents and wishes. I feel so humbled by Moiwa Ward’s love for missionaries.
At night the cutest family fed all of us missionaries and made me cakes! Not one…but 3! Ahh! It was so sweet. And the elders made me a cake too so we all ate tako, rice, karaage chicken, and CAKE! And it was my favorite. Strawberries and cream. It was really a birthday to remember!! I’m so grateful!
On a spiritual note: this week I’ve been fervently studying faith because I felt like that’s what I’ve been lacking. Me and my companion have working hard on having faith as we dendo and oh my goodness, this week has been wonderful. Have faith everyone! Remember God is always here!
“If there is any one thing that you and I need, … [it is] the kind of faith that moves us to get on our knees and plead with the Lord for guidance, and then, having a measure of divine confidence, get on our feet and go to work to help bring the desired results to pass.”
-Gordon B. Hinckley
I love you all!! Be happy!
It is now transfer four!! I have a nihonjin companion again!
I’m gonna be short this week, but know that it’s been amazing seeing Elder Oaks, and the whole entire mission!! So much more has happened. He said that we are in a really hard mission, but he knows we try really hard and he was proud of us. And that this mission has a warm feeling to it. It was really so nice.
Moiwa is super awesome and I’m sad this transfer is only 3 weeks. But really it’s been a wonderful time. 🙂
I saw Hannant Shimai!! She leaves in two weeks, ahhhhh!! Crazy. I’m so busy today! But just know I love you and next week I promise there will be more.
HAVE A GOOD WEEK!
So this past week I got really sick. It’s probably the worst cold I’ve ever had in my life. And I also got my companion sick(ごめんね)！So we had to stay inside a lot to prevent disease. Lol. But I still learned a lot!
There was no email today, but she did share lots of pictures. I will share a story that she shared with us on her Mother’s Day call. Hopefully, I remember it correctly. lol
Sasaki Shimai and her companion went to help an investigator clean her apartment. Before they left, they gave her a Book of Mormon and challenged her to read it. They followed up with her and found that she had not read it yet. So they challenged her again. She said she would read it.
Sasaki and Watabe Shimai went back on Saturday to see how this investigator was doing. When she opened the door, the investigator was there, with a visitor. They told her that they didn’t want to bother her and would come back later to see her.
The investigator quickly said, no. Please come in. And then kicked out her visitor, a man. After he left, the investigator explained that she was so happy and thankful that they had come to visit her. That she was happy to kick that man out because all he did was drink and smoke.
She explained that she wanted to change her life and didn’t want that kind of life any more. She had started to read the Book of Mormon as well. Sasaki Shimai and Watabe Shimai were super happy and excited about this miracle. There aren’t a lot of investigators in her area right now, so it was truly a miracle.
